The football season is in full swing and this weekend we will see the final of the Super 14 competition from South Africa. It will see the Blue Bulls host the Waikato Chiefs in what should be a fantastic final.

Pretoria may be the spiritual home of rugby. Set high up in the South African hills the steep stadium creates a cauldron of atmosphere that leaves travelling teams shaking with fear. It will be packed this weekend with the hard core South African fans all wearing blue and bull horns. It will be louder than a rock concert and the big Bulls forward pack will rumble forward, inspired by their home support. When they’re on top they will spin it wide to a backline capable of damaging any defence and if that wasn’t enough, they have the most consistent kicker in the competition peppering the field with drop goals and side line conversions. It certainly isn’t a pretty picture for the Waikato Chiefs.

Sometimes in sport the best two teams don’t necessarily meet in the final but that is not the case this year. Both teams have played the best rugby all year and deserve to be fighting it out for the title. 888 Sport has a market out already on who will win the game with the Bulls paying $1.40 and the Chiefs paying a very tasty $2.75. The Bulls deserve to be favourites on their home ground but write off the Chiefs at your own peril.

The Chiefs lost their first 3 games this year which saw them virtually written off for the final. Since then they have been a revelation scoring at will with scintillating pace and flair backed up by powerful forward play. The Bulls should win this game but the only team in the competition that would have any chance would be the Chiefs.
