Anzac Day is considered by many in Australia as the most important National Day of all. It is a day where Aussies remember those that gave up their lives defending their country. The Victorians show their respect by hosting a huge Australian Rules Football game every year between arch rivals Essendon and Collingwood. Many consider this the biggest football game of year especially when it comes to atmosphere. The Grand Final is obviously the biggest prize but this game is truly for the fans and there will be close to 100,000 of them either wearing the red and black of the Essendon Bombers or the black and white stripes of the Collingwood Magpies.

I think the Pies will have too much for the Bombers this Anzac Day. Often form goes out the window as passion overflows in these emotional-fuelled encounters. Both sides have shown some mixed form early this year and both have two wins from four games. Collingwood are a real chance for the ultimate prize this year whereas the young Essendon team is still rebuilding. They are at least another year away from their best so for this reason I am tipping the Magpies. The one thing that is certain, it is always a spectacle and both teams will give everything they have on the day.

ANZAC Match and 888 Sport

888 Sport will not only be betting on the Anzac Day game, they will have markets on all the games from Round 5 this weekend. Port Adelaide clash with the unbeaten St Kilda on Friday night which should be an absolute cracker of a game between two teams that are flying at the moment. The other game of huge interest is between the Western Bulldogs and the Carlton Blues. Both teams are highly regarded and expected to make the finals but are both coming off disappointing losses last weekend. Both of these games are hard to pick so my advice would be to look for some value when placing your bets.
