Rugby Union - From 14 to 4

Rugby was a game in turmoil a few years ago. Its climax was a lack lustre, tri-less World Cup Final in 2007 that left supporters scratching their heads about a game that had become stale and boring. Well thankfully those running the game, especially in the Southern Hemisphere, took drastic action and bought the run and flair back to rugby union. High scoring, fast paced, running rugby is back and the boring penalty goals are becoming a rarity instead of the norm.

888 Sport loves their rugby and has competitive books set on the rugby from all over the world. So now is the time to back the winner of the Super 14. We started with 14 teams and now have only four remaining after a very exciting final week of the regular season which saw seven teams fight it out for their place in the finals. The South African team, the Blue Bulls, finished on top of the table and will enjoy home field advantage throughout the finals. Hot on their tail are the three Kiwi teams that scraped into the finals. The Aussies were the big losers with none of their teams making the finals but the Waratahs, Brumbies and Force all had good seasons and was in the race right up until the final weekend.

Well how about a tip, we hear you ask! From where we're standing, the Bulls will be very hard to beat and our prediction is that they will play the Chiefs in the Grand Final. They have a big pack of forwards and a crazy pack of fanatical supporters who fill the high altitude stadium to capacity. The Waikato Chiefs are one of the most exciting rugby teams the sport has seen. They have good strong forwards who play it tight and tough and then spread it wide to their electric backs that spark into life whenever they get the opportunity. You can’t right off the Hurricanes or the Crusaders who both bring experience and excellent late season form into the finals, but the Bulls and Chiefs are undoubtedly some of the best teams in the competition.
