888sport has now shortened St Kilda into a clear second favourite at $3.25 to win the AFL Premiership after their incredible win against Geelong. The Cats are still the Premiership favourites at $2.10 but there are many punters who believe the gap has closed with a handful of other teams having credible claims for the Flag.
Never before in the history of the AFL have two teams remained undefeated after 13 rounds of football. Nearly 60, 000 fans crammed into Etihad Stadium, another record in itself, but one must feel sorry for the 30, 000+ extra fans that would have been able to watch the game had it been moved to the MCG. The script couldn’t have been written any better when the Saints got away to an early lead. The Cats clawed themselves back into the game in the second half before the Saints rallied and ended up winning by one straight kick.
The Cats, however, are certainly far from gone. Include Ottens and Johnson in that team, move the game to the MCG and the whole finals picture looks to work in their favour. The $2.10 on offer is the longest they have been for many weeks and looks inviting.
The Western Bulldogs ($7.00) and the Collingwood Magpies ($10.00) both recorded impressive victories themselves and shortened dramatically after the weekend. They both deserve to be considered series contenders for the title and are clearly the only two teams that could trouble the Cats or the Saints. In what will be another fantastic game, the Bulldogs and the Pies battle it out this week and you can expect the winner to shorten dramatically again for the Premiership.
Remember that 888sport bets on all your favourite AFL games. But take note! Now is the time to get on a team for the Grand Final because if they keep winning you will be left out in the cold, wondering why you didn’t take the good price when you had the chance.
