The $40,000 special anniversary WSOP tournament from the RIO Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada has crowned its Champion. This was a very special tournament that saw 201 hopefuls fork over the enormous entry fee. The rewards were first prize of just under US$2 million was a big incentive as well as a once in lifetime title.
Anyone and everyone in the world poker assembled to celebrate the 40th official year of the WSOP. Legends, world champions, multiple bracelet winners, internet gurus and a handful of the insanely rich, sat down to work out who was going to walk away with the cash and more importantly the special limited edition bracelet.
This was one of the tournaments that people expected one of the household name Pros to win, but it was little known Vitaly Lunkin who walked away with the prize. Lunkin and fellow unkown Isaac Haxton took a good chip leads into the final. The only real contender for the old brigade was 2004 WSOP Main Event winner Greg Raymer who eventually finished in 3rd place pocketing $774,927 USD. The special $1000 buy in stimulus tournament is already sold out and will have 6000 hopefuls battle it out for one of the cheapest buy-in bracelets on offer.
