The much anticipated WSOP event was held with great success from the 1 - 16th of July. 888 poker rep Shane Warne did taste some fruits of success. With Australians being in the minority at the event, Warne proudly represented Australia and 888 poker. Jeff Fenech, ex pro boxer and friend to Warne, who was also playing in the WSOP, was knocked out early in the tournament.
Warne ended the second day of the tourney on a high with over 100,000 chips. Although the second day did prove a little stressful at times. The tournament started looking extremely promising.
The third day of the WSOP bought bittersweet surprise with it. Warne was knocked out with unlucky pot after unlucky pot. Ending off 740th out of approximately 6800 players is not a bad result for the cricket star. Warne stated "I really enjoyed my time in Vegas for the World Series of Poker, and am eagerly awaiting the WSOP 2009".
Being the good Australian sportsman that Warne is, he ended off the contest wishing the best of luck to the remaining participants, with a special mention to fellow ozzie and 888 player Tony Clark.
