WSOP - New Games and New Winners

Daniel Alaei from Los Angeles has won Event #18, Omaha Hi/Lo, at this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP). Entry was US$10,000 and was one of the new big buy-in events added to the schedule this year. This has been a good move for the pro players as it gives them the opportunity to win big dollars and bracelets without wading through thousands of runners.

Australia’s very own ‘Sydney’ Sam Khouiss was flying early in the tournament and made it to the final two tables but suffered some very bad luck early and eliminated in the money at seventeenth. Other big names that ran deep included Daniel Negreanu who finished fourth and Annie Duke who finished eighth in what was a quality filled final table.

It has been a charge of the young brigade again this year in Vegas with plenty of young winners and not too many wiley old veterans or seasoned pros adding to their bracelet collection. There is still plenty of time, however, for the old guard to make their mark but it seems that this game is increasingly suited to the young internet gurus.

If you consider yourself a bit of an internet card champion, you still have time to win your way to the WSOP this year at 888Poker. For a little outlay you could be jetting off to Las Vegas, Nevada to play in the world’s biggest tournament.
