The ANZPT has now finished its inaugural season. It has to be considered an overwhelming success with five excellent poker tourneys held over the year. The first event was held back in February in Adelaide and was followed by Sydney, Melbourne, Queenstown and finally Brisbane.
The last tournament in Brisbane was a first of its kind for the state. The day ones were held in two different venues in both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The format worked fantastically well and Danny McDonaugh and his team should be congratulated on their success. Scott Kerr, a 21 year old card dealer from Star City in Sydney was a surprise winner of the event. There are plenty of dealers that consider themselves good card players but in reality many of them never reach these lofty heights. Kerr pocketed a massive $168, 000 for his troubles.
The biggest talking point of the Event was the highly competitive overall points series. Players earned point from playing and cashing in the five Main Events. The winner was none other than Tony Hachem who is starting to become a big name in the poker world through his own victories. He just beat Sydneysiders Chris Levak and Joel Dodds to the finishing line.
Next year we can expect to see even more events as venues like Burswood Casino, SkyCity Auckland and Canberra Casino possibly throwing their hat into the ring.
