So it’s another year gone and another Aussie Millions over. This year saw 680 players take their seat for the $10,000 buy in No Limit Holdem Main Event. Steward Scott is the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion, and will forever be remembered as the first Aussie to ever hoist the trophy on this, one the most prestigious poker tournaments in the world.

Heading into the final table, Scott held a commanding chip lead over the other players, with his closest rival being American Peter Rho with 2.42 Million vs Scotts 4.52 Million.

• Seat 7: Rajkumar Ramakrishnan - 2,050,000
• Seat 8: Sam Capra - 1,161,000

The biggest international star at the table was no doubt Barney Boatman, but unfortunately for Barney, he was one of the early casualties along with the other final table short stack Richard Ashby.

After one of the longest Aussie Millions final table’s on record, the final 8 were whittled down to two remaining players, these being the initial chip leaders Stewart Scott and Peter Rho. Scott held a commanding chip lead going into heads up play with the counts being;

• Stewart Scott - 10.7 million
• Peter Rho - 2.9 million

With such a short stack, it was only a matter of time before Rho’s attempted the double up. On the last hand of the tournament, Scott raised from the button only to see Peter Rho mover all in over the top. Stewart Scott must have thought that he was living in a dream as he instantly called being that he was dealt two aces {As}{Ad}. Rho was in serious trouble as he held Ace Jack {Ah}{Jc}. When the board ran out {2s}{9d}{8h}{4d}{9s}, Stewart Scott was the new Aussie Millions Champion and $2,000,000 richer for his efforts.

He will go down in history as the first ever Aussie to keep the title safely here on Aussie soil.
