Australia’s greatest ever poker player, Jeff Lisandro has won the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Tournament (Event 16). Lisandro defeated runner up Jeff Pardey after systematically destroying the rest of the final table including John Juanda who finished fifth. Seven Card Stud has been a great tournament for the Aussies over the years with Lisandro and Gary Benson having won in previous years.
WSOP Event 4 was locked out at 6012 runners. It was dubbed the ‘Stimulus tournament’ as it only cost $1,000 to play. Steve Sung would surely have been singing all the way to the bank when he eventually won the bracelet and the first prize of $771,338. This was Steve’s fifth cash in during a WSOP tournament since 2007, but this is by far his biggest result.
There was also a Champions invitational which featured all the past winners of the Main Event. The winner of this exhibition tournament was the much loved Tom McEvoy who walked away with a 1970’s Corvette for his troubles.
