888 Poker Team - APT

This year at the Asian Poker Tour there is a new event called the Battle of the Nations. The Event is a team No Limit Texas Hold em tournament. Teams are composed of three members from the same country. There will be two teams facing off at each table, so the tables will be six-handed. The goal is to eliminate all the members of the other team. This will play down until there is one team left. The buy-in for the event is HK$48,000.

888poker is proud to announce that they are the driving force behind 888Poker Team Australia. 888Poker Team Australia will be captained and managed by James Potter. James’ titles include the 2005 Victorian Champion, 2005 Australian Teams Champion, 2007 PLO Venetian Deep Stack Champion as well as two top 10 finishes in the Aussie Millions Main Event. The team also features Stewart Scott, the Aussie Millions Main Event Champion 2009, who made history by becoming the first Australian to win the Aussie Millions.

Other members of the team include Dennis Huntley, who is New Zealand High Roller Champion 2009, Andrew Scott who final tabled the APPT Macau High Rollers event last year, and up and coming Ben Savage, who has made serious progress on the scene but is well known as a former go cart and car racing champion. Representing the young internet guns is Adelaide Champion whose online poker handle is ‘Monster Dong’, Jonathan Karamalikis.

Current Aussie Millions champion Stewart Scott said: “I am really looking forward to coming to the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival. It is great to line-up alongside fellow Australian players for the Battle of the Nations. We have strength in depth, there’s no doubt that we are in it to win!”

The opposition is seriously strong though as the Asian Poker Tour Ambassador’s ‘The Poker Pack’ recently confirmed their line-up for the event. JC Tran, Quinn Do and Nam Le make up a formidable USA side, while Korea will be represented by Steve Sung, David ‘Chino’ Rheem and Kwang Soo Lee.

The USA’s JC Tran said: “I am confident that with Nam and Quinn on board we have a good chance of taking this down. We’ll certainly have our eye on Korea with friends Chino, Steve and Kwang on board while the Australians look a serious proposition too.”
